Three days after a video went viral in which a woman was seen thrashing a cab driver and misbehaving with a person standing nearby, a case has been registered against her under sections 394 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
An FIR has been registered against the woman for allegedly robbing Rs 6,000 from the cab driver and breaking his mobile. The victim Saadat Ali Siddiqui has lodged an FIR. The video of the woman beating the young man had gone viral. The CCTV footage of the same case also surfaced.
The incident took place on Friday evening at the Krishna Nagar locality in the Uttar Pradesh capital. The woman accused the taxi driver of trying to run her over, but the cab driver denied the allegation. CCTV footage also shows that the cab driver stopped at a zebra crossing while the woman was crossing the road, and the car is seen stopping right in front of her.
After the video surfaced , “Some users have pointed out that the cab driver may have been trying to cut through the signal though the traffic light was red and some users alleged that the woman crossed the road when one signal was green.
Saadat Ali Siddiqui (Cab Driver) said,“She grabbed my phone from the car and smashed it into pieces. She also broke the car’s side mirrors. We both were taken to the police station where an FIR (First Information Report) was registered against me but nothing was done against her. I want justice,” .
Later she also smacked a passer-by who tried to intervene and warned her not to hit the driver anymore
The police on the contrary had taken the cab driver and his accomplice to the police station on the complaint of the woman and fined them under section 151 for breach of peace. The woman was, however, released after giving a warning. However, now after the social media uproar, police have lodged a case against the woman.
