Popular Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh, who has also worked in Bollywood films, is currently garnering love for his participation in farmers’ protest and giving an epic reply to Kangana Ranaut, who called him Karan Johar’s pet.
The Udta Punjab actor took a dig at Kangana and said during his speech, “Hindi main bhi bol raha hun phir badh me Google na karna pade (I am also speaking in Hindi so that one need not Google what I am saying again)”
The actor said, “I want to urge the government to accept the demand of farmers. I would also like to urge the media to support us, these farmers are sitting peacefully with their demands, please show that and support us,” Diljit said, addressing the farmers and the media.
He added, “I want to say to the government- Do not divert from the issues. There is no other discussion going on here apart from that related to farmers. Whatever the farmers want, the government should accept. All are sitting peacefully. There is no talk of bloodshed. Everyone twists [facts] on Twitter.
Diljit Dosanjh was last seen in Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, which also featured Fatima Sana Shaikh and Manoj Bajpayee in key roles. The actor, who learnt Marathi for this film recently said, “The things that a man must do for love! My character had to learn Marathi for his lady love and I had to for the love for my film. It’s the kind of movie that’s so seeped in innocence that you want to work towards making it better. My character speaks Marathi quite a few times in the film. He is a Bombay boy, so it’s a part of his lingo.”
He added, “Picking up a new language is always difficult but that was a requirement in this film. It felt authentic. So when my character had to woo Fatima’s character, he used these adorable Marathi lines. Those scenes are kinda heartwarming. It was such a joy to see the work you’ve put in come alive on screen. It’s the kind of simple, uncomplicated love that we don’t celebrate enough anymore.”
Priyanka Chopra supports Diljit Dosanjh in the farmers protest. She tweeted –
Our farmers are India’s Food Soldiers. Their fears need to be allayed. Their hopes need to be met. As a thriving democracy, we must ensure that this crises is resolved sooner than later. https://t.co/PDOD0AIeFv
