A social media star in China has died after her ex-husband allegedly doused her in petrol and set her on fire while she was recording a live-streaming show.

Woman Vlogger Burnt Alive By Ex-Husband On Live Stream In China In a horrific incident, a popular Chinese vlogger, known by the name of Lamu, was burnt alive by her ex-husband when she was recording her video. Lamu was popular on 'Douyin' – a Chinese version of tik-tok and had thousands of followers. Her ex-husband, Tang, had reportedly broken into the house with a knife and petrol when she was recording her video account. Lamu suffered 3rd-degree burns to ninety percent of her body parts and died two weeks later at Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital. The family of the deceased has asked for financial aid from the fans and raised more than one million yuan (£114,280) in just one day. The former partner reportedly broke into the star’s home armed with a cleaver and petrol before attacking her in front of her family members in mid-September.

The video blogger, known as Lamu, sustained burns on 90 percent of her body and was left fighting for her life for more than two weeks, reports said. She was pronounced dead by doctors

The case has prompted discussion on China’s social media site Weibo . More than 70 million people have used a hashtag mentioning her death.

Lamu died on September 30 after treatment failed.
