At the age of 17, Jadav Payeng started to grow trees on barren land. Many challenging years later a jungle of 1200 hectares has grown out of this idea. This is a story of passion and perseverance and how an individual can change the course of nature.
This man as a teenager was laughed at when he asked his elders, “Don’t you think if the reptiles are dying in heat, next it will be humans?” Next all he did was for the next 30 years planted trees.
Today, that same land hosts 1,360 acres of Jungle called Molai Forest, named after Jadav “Molai” Payeng, the man who made this possible single handedly! In one of his interviews he says, ” Trees don’t go to destroy our houses, we destroy trees.” In an age of instant gratification, this man silently planted trees, without any notice until now. And the thing is he still does.
Imagine what one person can do!
