A woman allegedly extorted Rs 1.3 crore from her boyfriend’s former girlfriend after threatening to circulate her Photoshopped photos on social media.
The victim, a resident of Bengaluru’s Whitefield, is married and has an eight-year-old child.
Before marrying the Bengaluru-based businessman, Shalini, during her college days, was in a relationship with Mahesh. However, they broke up and were not in touch with each other all these years. In July last year, Mahesh sent a message to Shalini on WhatsApp, following which the two got connected again.
After two days, Shalini received a message from a woman who introduced herself as Anushree and told her that she is Mahesh’s current girlfriend. The three became friends.
Anushree allegedly threatened Shalini saying that she would post the photos and videos on social media if she refuses to pay her money. Following this, the latter, over the last one and a half years, transferred around Rs 1.3 crores to Anushree’s bank account.

A police complaint was lodged and a case was registered. Police picked up Mahesh and Anushree for interrogation. Further investigation into the case is underway.
Extortion is now not limited to sex. Victim has to raise his voice as soon as possible. Should file a complaint as soon as possible to break the moral of this kind of criminal.
