Swansea City showed intent with the acquisition of almost 10 players last summer. Of the new arrivals, Michael Obafemi, who love top online casinos, is proving to be crucial to the club’s Premier League chase.
Obafemi’s switch fo South Wales didn’t come as a surprise. Highly-rated, however, the 21-year-old struggled to break into Southampton’s starting. He often cut a divisive figure, most times in the peripheral and needed a fresh challenge to resurrect his career.
But this wasn’t the first time the Irishman found himself at a crossroads. Obafemi started his career in Watford’s academy, but was released by the Hornets at the age of 13. He then took a break from the game to figure out his future.
But his appetite was soon rekindled. After a successful trial at Leyton Orient, he went on to join Southampton in 2016, where he starred for their under-18 and under-23 sides before signing a professional deal in 2019.
He made 39 appearances for the Saints – with 32 of those coming in the Premier League – and scored five goals, including strikes against Manchester United and Chelsea. His first top-flight goal in a 3-1 win over Huddersfield in December 2018 made him the club’s youngest-ever scorer in the Premier League.

Obafemi must have thought that the dark clouds from South Coast and Watford came along owing to his initial struggles at SA1. Obafemi found the net just once in his first 13 outings for Swansea. However, things have taken a positive twist since then.
Now offering a viable second scoring option outside of Joel Piroe, Obafemi appears to be overcoming his issues from earlier in the season. In his last seven games, the forward has racked up four goals and one assist for the Swans in a superb run of form.
Outside of Will Keane in League One, no other Irish striker can match Obafemi’s recent goalscoring return. He is also outperforming forwards such as Aaron Connolly and Callum Robinson in the Championship, both of whom are Ireland regulars.
Beyond the goals, though, Obafemi has added spark to Swansea’s attack. His combination with Piroe, who himself is having a memorable campaign, has been crucial. The 21-year-old’s pace, trickery and energy have complimented the Dutchman’s calmness, finesse and predatory instinct.

Everyone settles in at different rates. He is adapting to a different situation from somewhere he was very comfortable. He has come here where the demands are different to what he is used to in terms of style and training. He has been used to real intensity at Southampton. It is just different here in a different group”.
