    Most countries have been using rice as a part of their daily diet, hence some of their traditional dishes include rice as the main ingredient. 

    The variety of rice preparations is countless, and the ways of cooking are equally diverse. Generally, rice cooking methods include absorption method, steaming, boiling, microwaving, and baking. The cookware used for these methods is also multiple: pot, pan, saucepan, baking dish, and so much more.

    For years, most people have tried to master the cooking methods to obtain perfect rice: fluffy and uniformly cooked.

    The ideal cooking technique would be the one that makes you get evenly cooked rice every single time, fast and effortlessly.

    Knowing that some people can not perfectly cook rice; kitchen appliances manufacturers have thought about making this process less stressful.

    One of these miraculous appliances is the rice cooker, a device that will help you cook perfect rice every time, no matter your cooking skills.

    What is a rice cooker?

    A rice cooker also called a rice steamer or multicooker is an automatic kitchen appliance to steam or boil rice. Even though it was designed for cooking rice, it can be used for making soups, vegetables, one-pot meals, ribs, chili, porridge, and even bread or cakes.

    This electric device consists of an aluminum outer casing, an electric heat source, a cooking bowl, a thermostat, and a glass or metal lid. Its functionality is simple; the heating element boils the water or liquid in the bowl, this process steams rice in about 20 minutes. The thermostat controls the temperature inside the cooker and when the rice is ready, it keeps it warm.

    Rice cookers are quite easy to use; you only need to choose the recipe of your preference, set the cooking time, pour all the ingredients, press ON, and less than a half hour later, enjoy fluffy rice.

    Using one of these appliances will take all your stress out and help you cook delicious rice dishes every time. You can start with simple recipes and a few ingredients since a rice cooker works perfectly with any variety of rice.

    Once you master this wonderful device, you can start cooking complete rice meals, adding more ingredients and making them more complex if you wish.

    Cooking in a rice cooker

    Most people regularly use long-grain white rice for all their dishes. It is a good option for starting using this appliance. Later, you may try different varieties such as basmati, jasmine, Arborio, and others.

    There are several recipes you can cook. If you are looking for different flavors and unique textures, try different preparations, for instance, a jasmine rice recipe. You will get a fragrant, bit sugary, and fluffy rice dish.

    Simple jasmine rice

    Servings: 4                    Prep time: 5 minutes               Cook time: 20 minutes

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup of jasmine rice.
    • 1 cup of water.
    • Salt.

    Preparation:

    1. Add rice to the rice cooker.
    2. Pour water and salt.
    3. Put the lid on and close the cooker.
    4. Set the proper time in the rice cooker.
    5. When it is done, let it rest.
    6. Serve.

    Fried rice

    Servings: 4 Prep time: 5 minutes Cook time: 30 minutes

    Ingredients:

    • 2 cups of jasmine rice.
    • 2 cups of beef broth.
    • 1 tablespoon of oil.
    • 250 grams of finely cut bacon.
    • 1 sliced onion.
    • 1 teaspoon of minced garlic.
    • 1 cup of frozen mixed vegetables.
    • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce.

    Preparation:

    1. In the rice cooker, set cooking time and incorporate oil, bacon, onion, and garlic.
    2. Mix very well and cook until they are tender.
    3. Add rice, frozen vegetables, and beef broth.
    4. Pour more oil and stir.
    5. Put the lid on the rice cooker.
    6. When it is ready, let it rest for 5 minutes.
    7. Before serving, add soy sauce and mix.
    8. Serve
